Many people may not realize that the foundation of common law is rooted in the law of Moshe. Students who have completed or are currently taking the Ten Devariym classes will find themselves well-prepared to engage in discussions about the edicts and principles of common law; however, no prerequisites are necessary for enrollment. In the course “Common Law – Part I,” we will explore the basic principles of common law and discuss the various “terms of art” that govern these principles. We will also consider the epistemological concepts that have been reckoned in relation to the law, particularly in relationship with the foundation of scripture.
